THE LAW OF CLEAN AND UNCLEAN CREATURES

God has declared certain creatures as clean and other creatures as unclean for human consumption. Man is an omnivorous being. God allows us to eat herbivore animals for meat and has prohibited us from eating carnivores and omnivores. Herbivores are creatures that eat only vegetables; carnivores eat only meat; and omnivores eat both plants and meat.

God’s dietary laws forbid the eating of two types of creatures:

PREDATORS:
carnivorous animals that prey upon and kill other animals for food*

SCAVENGERS:
carrion eaters that feed off carcasses of already dead creatures, fecal matter, and other refuse

*Fish can be noted as somewhat of an exception. Most fish feed on smaller fish, which classifies them as a type of predatory carnivore in the strictest sense. All clean fish swim in schools however, and are not ambush or solitary predators.

LEVITICUS 11:46-47 (NKJV):
This is the law of the animals and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth, to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.

God’s Dietary Commandments, after exhaustive and thorough meticulous Scripture and scientific research, are compiled and presented in the following comprehensive listing and artistic images, to make a distinction between the clean creatures that may be eaten and the unclean creatures that may not be eaten (Leviticus 11:46-47, 20:25, Ezekiel 44:23).
