CLEAN ANIMALS
Sacrifices and offerings of unblemished clean animals were a forerunner of the Perfect Sacrificial Offering. Mammals and birds distinguished as being ‘clean’ symbolized that they were holy; being ‘without blemish’ signified that they were physically perfect without injury. Lambs, the blood of clean animals, were sacrificed to temporarily atone for man’s sins.
Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) was the Perfect Sacrificial Offering, taking away the first; a foreshadowing of sanctification through animal sacrifices, to establish the second, everlasting sanctification through the sacrificed body of Messiah (Christ) (Hebrews 10:9-10). Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ), whose life was holy and without sin, met the qualifications to permanently take away the sins of the world. Yeshua (Jesus) permanently paid for the remission of sin, therefore there are to be no more animal sacrifices or offerings for sin, as Messiah’s sacrifice was offered once and forever to atone for man’s sins (Hebrews 10:1-18). Yeshua (Jesus) was distinguished as the only man who ever lived a clean, holy life without blemish, illness, injury, or sin. Yeshua, the Lamb of God, gave His life as the once-and-forever substitute sacrificial offering for man’s sins (1 Peter 1:19). Yeshua’s (Jesus’) blood was shed to permanently atone for man’s sins.
CONCLUSION
Throughout Scripture we are provided with examples of forerunners of Yeshua (Jesus), saints who lived righteous lives. Although the righteous saints of Scripture were not without sin, nor lived perfect lives, nonetheless they provide an example for all believers as to how we should live.
1 JOHN 2:3-6 (NKJV):
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 JOHN 3:10 (NKJV):
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God.
Forerunner saints of Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) serve as examples for believers to emulate. Believers are commanded to live righteously, to practice righteousness, as forerunners of Messiah (Christ), who came before us, lived. Believers are to live like Messiah (Christ), to be like Him, to walk as He walked.
