Mainstream Christians practice and preach that the lesser parts of the law, or the ‘Mosaic laws,’ have been done away with and no longer need to be observed. Yeshua (Jesus) plainly stated otherwise. This article’s purpose is to serve notice to lawless-minded Christians to carefully examine the words of Yeshua (Jesus) regarding the least of His commandments and to reconsider the widespread false teaching that His lesser laws have been abolished and done away with.
MATTHEW 5:17-19 (NKJV) [WITH INTERPRETATION]:
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy [THE LAW] but to fulfill [THE PROPHETS WRITINGS ABOUT ME]. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever [JEW OR GENTILE] therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever [JEW OR GENTILE] does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
LUKE 16:17 (NKJV):
“It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.”
MATTHEW 24:35; MARK 13:31; LUKE 21:33 (NKJV):
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
When heaven and Earth do eventually pass away (which has not happened yet), and we have a new heaven and a new Earth (Revelation 21:1), Yeshua’s (Jesus’) words (which include His commandments – all of them), shall not pass away.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10 (NKJV):
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the reign of Elohim (kingdom of God)? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous (greedy of gain), nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the reign of Elohim (kingdom of God).
GALATIANS 5:19-21 (NKJV):
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, drug sorcery, hatred, quarrels, jealousies, fits of rage, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the reign of Elohim (kingdom of God).
REVELATION 21:7-8 (NKJV):
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. The cowardly, untrustworthy, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, drug sorcerers, idolators, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Most Christians do not properly observe the Sabbath, do not obey God’s dietary commands, and do not observe other lesser parts of the law that they feel are no longer necessary to be complied with. Christians often teach others that God’s lesser ‘Mosaic’ commands have been abolished and done away with. Fortunately for Christians who are living righteously and are not committing the sins listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21, and Revelation 21:7-8, they will not be condemned for disobedience to the lesser parts of the law and will inherit the kingdom of God.
However, Yeshua (Jesus) proclaimed that those who break the least of His commandments and teach others to do likewise, they will be called ‘least,’ and those who practice all His lesser laws and teach others to do them, they will be called ‘great’ in the kingdom of heaven.
MATTHEW 28:18-120 (NKJV):
And Yeshua (Jesus) came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THINGS THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Disobeying God’s lesser commandments, and teaching others to disobey them, carry eternal consequences. Many mainstream Christians who disregard God’s perpetual Sabbath (Exodus 31:16), eat unclean creatures in disobedience to God’s dietary commands (Leviticus 11; Deuteronomy 14), and disobey other lesser laws will need to be corrected before entering the kingdom of heaven. Lesser-law disregarding Christians will be called ‘least’ in the kingdom of heaven and will be treated as such in matters of authority and stature. Those who obey all of God’s lesser laws, and teach others to do them, will be called ‘great’ in the kingdom of heaven. As is the case in all kingdoms, the great enjoy authority, power, and privilege over the least.
COLOSSIANS 2:18 (NKJV):
Let no one cheat you of your reward…
REVELATION 22:12 (NKJV):
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.”
God’s laws are eternal. If convicted by the truth that all of God’s laws, including the least of His commandments are eternal, then start learning them, do them, and teach others about them. Those who practice and teach others about the least of God’s commandments will be called ‘great’ in the kingdom of heaven.
