AN UNCHANGING GOD; NO CHANGES IN GOD’S COMMANDMENTS
When discussing God’s commandments, confirming them as eternal and unchanging, it is imperative to understand that God is holy and unchangeable. Scripture repeatedly and exhaustively characterizes and establishes God as both holy and unchangeable. Since God is holy, we can know with assurance that what He says is true and that He will keep His word. Since God is unchanging, we know that God will not change His word or His commandments. If God were a God who was inclined to change His word or His commandments, it would render Him unholy and changeable. God repeatedly reminds us that He is holy and unchanging, so we can rely on Him and trust Him. If God were inclined to not keep His word, our very salvation would be forever at risk, as God could simply change His mind about mankind and destroy us all at any moment in time.
Yeshua (Jesus) did not die on the cross to alleviate us from His laws (Matthew 5:17-19, 11:30). Yeshua (Jesus) suffered and died to atone for our sins, to pay the penalty for sins we have all committed, not so we could sin freely and perpetually, but that we should come to faith, repent of sin, and live righteously (Acts 17:30; Romans 6:15-23; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Hebrews 10:26-31; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 John 2:3-6).
Scripture reveals in clear simple language that God’s laws have not, nor will ever change. God does not change. God’s laws are perfect. We who have broken God’s laws need to be changed.
PSALM 19:7 (NKJV):
The law of YHWH (the Lord) is perfect.
We who have broken God’s laws are imperfect sinners and need to be changed into perfect saints. God is perfect, His laws are perfect, and we need to become perfect.
ISAIAH 1:18:
“Come now, and let us reason together,” says YHWH (the Lord), “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be
as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
MATTHEW 5:48 (NKJV):
“You shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-52 (NKJV) [CONDENSED]:
Behold, I tell you a mystery… in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet… …we shall be changed.
It is we who must be changed, not God’s commandments.
DEUTERONOMY 4:2, 12:32 (NKJV):
You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of YHWH (the Lord) your God which I command you. …
Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.
PSALM 102:27, 111:7-8, 119:160 (NKJV):
But You are the same and Your years shall have no end. …
All His commandments are sure. They stand fast forever and ever and are done in truth and uprightness. …
Your word is true from the beginning and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
PROVERBS 24:21, 30:6 (NKJV):
My son, fear YHWH (the Lord) and the king; Do not associate with those given to change. …
Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar.
ISAIAH 24:5, 40:8 (NKJV):
The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. … The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.
MALACHI 3:6 (NKJV):
“I am YHWH (the Lord), I do not change.”
MATTHEW 5:17-19 (NKJV) [WITH INTERPRETATION]:
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy [THE LAW] but to fulfill [WHAT THE PROPHETS WROTE ABOUT THE MESSIAH]. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
MATTHEW 24:35; MARK 13:31; LUKE 21:33 (NKJV):
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
LUKE 16:17 (NKJV):
“It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.”
HEBREWS 13:8 (NKJV):
Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
JAMES 1:17 (NKJV):
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
1 PETER 1:25 (NKJV):
The word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word by which the gospel is preached unto you.
WHO CHANGED GOD’S ETERNAL LAWS?
It is not God, nor the Apostle Paul who has abolished or changed any of God’s laws; it is man. Man’s rebellion against God’s commandments has had a long history. Man’s changing of God’s laws, has likewise had a long history.
EZEKIEL 21:21 (NKJV) [CONDENSED]:
Babylon stands at the parting of the road, at the fork of the two roads…
Babylon (religious confusion) originates from two main sources: Talmudic Judaism and Roman Catholicism. These two religious theologies possess the Holy Scriptures as their proclaimed source of truth, but pervert them by abolishing, adding to, changing, or nullifying God’s times and laws through willful intent or by tradition.
ISAIAH 30:9-10 (NKJV):
That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the law of YHWH (the Lord); Who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.”
EZEKIEL 22:26 (NKJV):
Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and
unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their
eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
Yeshus (Jesus) refused to be bound by oral “law,” which are traditional man-made rules of conduct that are additions to God’s laws and often conflict with them.
MATTHEW 15:3,6 (NKJV):
“Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? … Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.”
MARK 7:9,13 (NKJV):
“All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. … making the word of God
of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
Mainstream Judaism erroneously adds to and nullifies many of God’s commandments through tradition and Talmudic writings, which they regard above God’s laws.
GALATIANS 1:6-9 (NKJV) [WITH INTERPRETATION]:
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Messiah (Christ), to a different gospel, which is not another [NEW TESTAMENT]; but there are some [THE EMERGING CATHOLIC CHURCH] who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Messiah (Christ). But even if we, or an angel from
heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said
before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be
accursed.
Many mainstream Christians twist the Apostle Paul’s words to proclaim that God’s eternal perfect laws have been done away with, but Paul said that even if he were to preach against the gospel, which does not teach that God’s laws were abolished, he should be accursed. Peter warns that some of Paul’s writings are difficult to understand and many people twist Paul’s words to their own destruction.
2 PETER 3:15-16 (NKJV):
Our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles,
speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable
people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
1 TIMOTHY 4:1-4 (NKJV) [WITH INTERPRETATION]:
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits
[MARIAN APPARITIONS, ETC.] and doctrines of demons [UNSCRIPTURAL CATHOLIC DOCTRINES], speaking
lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry [CATHOLIC PRIESTS AND NUNS ARE FORBIDDEN TO MARRY], and commanding to abstain from foods [MEATLESS FRIDAYS] which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature
of God is good, and nothing is to be refused IF it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of
God [LEVITICUS 11 & DEUTERONOMY 14] and prayer.
DANIEL 7:25 (KJV) [WITH INTERPRETATION]:
And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times [FESTIVALS] and laws.
Catholic popes, all of them, have fulfilled the Daniel 7:25 prophecy. Scripture says, “He shall intend to change times and laws.” All Catholic popes have either intended to change God’s times and laws or have upheld the intended changes of God’s commandments by the decrees of Catholic popes who came before them.
Catholic popes CANNOT change God’s times or laws, though that is their intention. God’s appointed times and eternal laws REMAIN as God originally commanded them.
GOD’S ETERNAL COMMANDMENTS ARE NOT TEMPORARY ORDINANCES
HEBREWS 6:20 & 10:10 (NKJV) [CONDENSED]:
Yeshua (Jesus), having become High Priest forever … By that we have been sanctified through the offering of the
body of Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) once for all.
God’s commandments were not the old covenant that was supposedly fulfilled by Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ). Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) obeyed the law as an example for us to follow. He did not fulfil the law so that we need not obey it. God’s laws are not a covenant, they exist eternally. The ordinance of sacrificing animals as a means to temporarily atone for sin was the old covenant that was replaced by the once and for all time sacrifice of Yeshua (Jesus) to permanently atone for sins. The Levitical priesthood was a temporary priesthood until Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) became our High Priest forever.
ACTS 17:29-30 (NKJV):
Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or
stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now
commands all men everywhere to repent, …
JOHN 4:23-24 (NKJV):
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
JOHN 14:15 (NKJV):
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
MATTHEW 7:13-14 (NKJV):
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
REVELATION 22:14 (NKJV):
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
Yeshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) is the same yesterday, today, and forever and so are His times and laws.
