Throughout millennia, Yeshua (Jesus) has very often been depicted as an overly feminized, gentile, soft, weak-willed man. This article will show that Yeshua (Jesus) was not only the gentle Lamb of God, but is also a very fierce, manly, rugged, strong-willed man, a Lion of God.

The term “girlie-man” was recently popularized by Arnold Schwarzenegger when he used the phrase to belittle his political opponents during his successful bid to become governor of California from 2003-2011.

girlie-man (girly-man):
A weak or effeminate man; a ‘sissy,’ a ‘wimp.’[1]

At the time of Yeshua’s (Jesus’) Messiah mission the Temple of God in Jerusalem had become a marketplace, a center of commerce and trade.

YESHUA (JESUS) DRIVES OUT THE MERCHANTS AND MONEY CHANGERS FROM THE TEMPLE OF GOD IN JERUSALEM

MATTHEW 21:12-13:
Then Yeshua (Jesus) went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’”

MARK 11:15-17:
So they came to Jerusalem. Then Yeshua (Jesus) went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’”

JOHN 2:13-16:
Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Yeshua (Jesus) went up to Jerusalem. And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business. When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!”

YESHUA (JESUS) CONFRONTED THE HIGH PRIESTS AND PHARISEES, CALLED THEM NAMES, AND OUTWITTED THEM

MATTHEW 12:34:
“Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things?”

MATTHEW 23:13-17,19,23,25,27,29,33:
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! …
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! …
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! …
Woe to you, blind guides, … Fools and blind! … Fools and blind! …
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! …
Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel! …

Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?”

MATTHEW 22:15-22:
Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men. Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”
But Yeshua (Jesus) perceived their wickedness, and said,
“Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? Show Me the tax money.”
So they brought Him a denarius.
And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”
They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”
And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.

Overturning tables, driving out merchants with a whip, calling the religious leaders of the time evil and all other sorts of offending descriptive names are the sort of things only bold, driven, strong-willed men do.

YESHUA (JESUS) VOLUNTARILY GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US

JOHN 10:17-18:
“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. NO ONE TAKES IT FROM ME, BUT I LAY IT DOWN OF MYSELF. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

Yeshua (Jesus) was not merely a helpless victim of circumstance doing His Father’s will in being sacrificed for mankind. No one took His life against His will. He could have said no. Yeshua (Jesus) laid down His life of His own free will, to be tortured and killed, which was the only way to save fallen mankind. Yet He still had the option to have refused to have laid down His life.

YESHUA (JESUS) WAS THE LAMB, BUT IS RETURNING AS A LION

It has been said that the Jews were desiring a Lion for their Messiah, but instead got a Lamb, and that many Christians are expecting a Lamb to return, but instead will get a Lion.

JOHN 19:30:
Yeshua (Jesus) said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

With those words, Yeshua’s (Jesus’) work as the suffering Shepherd Messiah, who died to atone for the sins of mankind, was finished. There will be no more sacrifices for sin (Hebrews 7:27). He is returning to rule the earth as a King, with fierceness and with a rod of iron.

REVELATION 19:15-16:
Out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His banner written: SOVEREIGN OF SOVEREIGNS AND MASTER OF MASTERS
(KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS).

Today, many strong willed, uncompromising men of God who boldly proclaim Scripture truths are often branded as “Torah Terrorists” by passive Messianic / Hebrew Roots believers and by mainstream Christians who want to be left alone in their pagan traditions and sins. Believers are commanded by Yeshua (Jesus) to be lights of the world and salt of the earth (Matthew 15:13-16). Light illuminates and salt agitates. Yeshua (Jesus) was neither a girlie-man, nor was He pagan friendly. Yeshua (Jesus) was the original Torah terrorist.
